digitalfaerie > Dandelion Sunburst (square) ::

I cropped the above picture to see how it would fit in a square format. I really like this version as it provides a strong contrast between the circular shape of the dandelion and the frame.

digitalfaerie > Glass Over Wine

So many people ask me how I created this shot. Did I just impose a layer of red over a picture of a wine glass? Did I photoshop it like crazy?

Amazingly enough, this shot is fairly straight from the camera, with minor cropping and slight adjustments to tonality and saturation. But nothing far removed from the original.

I took a cookie sheet and lined the bottom with wax paper, and then poured red wine in it. The wax paper begins to take on striations and blotchiness, which I believe comes from extended periods of time in a liquid and being moved around, dented, and scratched.

I took an empty wine glass, and sat it in the tray and adjusted the two lights carefully so as to avoid any hot spots.

The actual exposure is the reflection of the glass in the wine. So the bottom part of the glass's base you see at the bottom, was actually at the top originally, and is part of the actual glass, not a reflection. Pretty cool, huh?
digitalfaerie > Driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fog can be stressful sometimes, but it does allow you to go extremely slow without having to worry about people wanting to run you over. Sometimes when you're in the driver's seat, you miss the beauty around you.

I stopped at one of the many overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway to snap this shot. I like it with the sepia tone, seems to warm up the fog a bit, but still manages to keep it's "horror movie" feel.
digitalfaerie > Rosebud ::

This rosebud had not quite opened up yet, and I fell in love with the top as well as the color striations. Can we say Golden Spiral?
digitalfaerie > Purple Rosebud ::

I wish I knew more about flower names, especially since I love to photograph them so much. This purple rosebud was a part of another bouquet I received for my birthday. There is no color adjustment in photoshop here, it's a simple trick of white balance. The background is actually a purple silk square, much like the color you see in the rosebud. But the flourescent setting in my camera read the background as this deep indigo, making for a much better contrast between foreground and background.
