In October of 2008 I had the great fortune to revisit Brookgreen Gardens in Litchfield, SC. It had been over ten years since I was there last. It was even better than I had remembered. The statues, fountains, flower gardens all sprawl and wind under the watchful majesty of beautiful live oaks.

digitalfaerie > The Constitution Tree in Brookgreen Gardens. Yes, it was around during the signing of our country's constitution. The first time I saw this tree I cried. No, not because it's the constitution tree, but because it's so massive. Unfortunately, several of its limbs are missing. Ten years ago several limbs gently rested on the ground, making the canopy even more impressive. But it's still nothing to balk at.

digitalfaerie > Don't you just want to jump in and start meandering down the path? Found this hidden corner of Brookgreen Gardens and just couldn't leave. I wish I was still there.

digitalfaerie > Here's a slightly different shot of the same winding path, only I process this in photoshop to give it that aged, damaged look. I think it has a lot of charm and completely changes the tone of the image.
