digitalfaerie > Starburst Thistle ::

A friend of mine gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers that was full of beautiful dried thistle. This macro shot has slight color processing, mostly to add the purple - which was already present, and a slight variation on the hue to bring out the green. I think it's pretty sharp!

digitalfaerie > Dandelion Sunburst (wide) ::

I think Dandelions are some of the most beautiful plants on Earth, especially since most people try to eradicate them with pesticides and the like. But their delicate nature lends itself well to macro shots like this. I jumped at the chance to replace a setting sun with this little guy.

I cropped the above picture to see how it would fit in a square format. I really like this version as it provides a strong contrast between the circular shape of the dandelion and the frame.

digitalfaerie > The Velvet of Rose Petals ::

Until you've taken a macro shot of rose petals, you can never truly appreciate the great texture this bloom can offer. This side of a rose isn't usually appreciated. I really love the veiny texture on the underside - it almost makes it look like a different thing altogether.

digitalfaerie > Purple Rosebud ::

I wish I knew more about flower names, especially since I love to photograph them so much. This purple rosebud was a part of another bouquet I received for my birthday. There is no color adjustment in photoshop here, it's a simple trick of white balance. The background is actually a purple silk square, much like the color you see in the rosebud. But the flourescent setting in my camera read the background as this deep indigo, making for a much better contrast between foreground and background.

This set was also a part of the bouquet that the purple rosebud shot came from. These pictures were taken very early on in owning my FujiFilm S7000 camera. This one goes nicely with the next two as part of a triptych as well.

I think my favorite part of this bouquet was the spirally twigs that came with it. The shapes really give the whole thing this nice sense of whimsy.

This rosebud had not quite opened up yet, and I fell in love with the top as well as the color striations. Can we say Golden Spiral?
